Backstage Nails: NYFW The Blonds FW'17

If you love true glamour nails The Blonds FW'17 collection gave a  good show when it came to their nail game. And they have to thank the brand CND for making that happen on the runway. Crafted with diamond like precision, the nails featured moonlit colors and hypnotic effects representative of a woman's tailsman.

“The Blonds are true creative partners,” said CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “Our artistic spirits have always been intertwined, and this season elevated that synergy to a new level. Similar to their latest collection, CND’s Fall 2017 trend story is rooted in mercurial hues for spellbinding beauty with a dark and seductive edge.”

“We’ve created some of our most extraordinary masterpieces for The Blonds over the years,” said creative lead Shelena Robinson. “This season, we challenged ourselves to push the boundaries of our artistry with new innovative thinking, and we did it with love. It was all about sophistication and refinement for us this time around.”

“CND is simply incredible,” said The Blonds Creative Director David Blond. “The nails are always the last touch of glamour to finalize the look.”
“For this show, we actually decided to forego jewelry on the wrists and hands altogether because we really wanted the nails to serve that key purpose,” added designer Phillipe Blond. “And we knew CND would deliver like none other!”

Beauty Buzz: CND + Miss Pop

I am so excited for this partnership just in time for NYFW!

CND, the pioneers of nail artistry at Fashion Week and makers of SHELLAC® Brand 14+ Day Nail Color and VINYLUX® Weekly Polish, are thrilled to join forces with new Creative Ambassador –  Miss Pop! I met Miss Pop years ago during NYFW she was just on the scene so this is amazing to see her growth in the industry!

A vibrant New York City-based nail artist, Miss Pop has made a name for herself creating looks for celebrity clients, editorial shoots and countless New York Fashion Week shows, including Jeremy Scott, Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet and Rodarte. Specializing in hand-painted artistry, she is most well-known for adding bright pops of color or geometric elements to designs that can be replicated at home or in the salon.

CND and Miss Pop will officially kick off the partnership at New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2017 this February, collaborating on an array of show-stopping runway nails for some of the biggest names in fashion.

"I am excited to become part of CND's legacy of celebrating nail art on the runway, in the salon and at home," Miss Pop said. "Nail art is the beauty we do for ourselves. I love my makeup, hair and dresses, but I don't see any of that all day. What I do see is my hands, so I'm never done until my nails are. With CND, I want to empower everyone to make their nails colorful canvases for self-expression, whether they're a seasoned nail pro or a beauty enthusiast."

Stay tuned ladies because I will be covering NYFW backstage getting the beauty buzz on runway CND nails and all the behind the scenes madness!

Check me out back in 2013 at Emerson with Miss Pop! And yes I was heavier then it's all due to my R.A condition. Glad those heavy days are over!

Backstage Nails: NYFW Libertine FW'16

It can't get anymore dramatic than this! Libertine brought out all the stops in the FW'16 collection and collaboration with CND.

Inspired by Johnson Hartig’s muse of the season, a French sculptor, painter and filmmaker, with enlightenment from transcendental meditation, the clothing and nails featured graphic elements of modernism with sculptural extravagance in vibrant and animated color.

To complement beaded eye embellishments featured on the unique Libertine garments, the team hand-sculpted 180 eyes in various sizes using RETENTION+™ Liquid & Powder, then painted the eyes with SHELLAC™ Brand 14+ Day Nail Color and VINYLUX™ Weekly Polish in vibrant color combinations of red, green, blue, orange and pink, grounded in black and white accents. Finished with 60 LED-lit Swarovski crystal pupils, the eyes represented the quiet aloneness and centered spirituality achieved through meditation. An additional 180 pastel matte base nails were decked out with soft, fluffy adornments for a luxe organic finish.

Backstage Nails: NYFW The Blonds FW'16

If you're a lover of true nail art these designs are right up your alley. It's all about bringing that raw, dramatic visual feature from the runway to the audience. CND and The Blonds collaboration together is magical and vibrant. The whole concept is full of life and good times!

New York, NY (February 17, 2016) – CND, the global leader in professional nail products and services, was a showstopper at The Blonds Fall/Winter 2016 Show at MILK Studios in New York. The inspiration was 1950s Hollywood glamour with elements of the unusual world of Alice in Wonderland.
“CND’s Winter 2016 trend story evokes glitter glam, dazzling jewel tones and red carpet couture, and this was the perfect opportunity to tell that story with a trippy twist!”

To complete the runway collection, the unrivaled artists of the CND Design Lab Team created a distinct nail style for every look. The stiletto-shaped nails and their 3D embellishments were hand-sculpted with RETENTION+™ Liquid & Powder and BRISA™ Gel, then adorned with SHELLAC™ Brand 14+ Day Nail Color, VINYLUX™ Weekly Polish and CND™ Additives. The color palette featured a dynamic range of opalescent pinks, pearlescent brights and metallic blues, anchored in black patent and fishnet. One model donned a vibrant bouquet laced with thorns, while another showcased “Eat me,” “Drink me” and “Lick me” cookies adhered with edible glue. Nails were ornamented with unconventional materials like ribbons, feathers, foils, sequins, metal, faux fur and smoke – even crystals and stones created entirely out of nail products. A result of over 900 combined hours of production, these over-the-top designs were the perfect accessory for The Blonds’ dramatic collection.

Backstage Nails: CND at Libertine S/S16

CND FOR LIBERTINE SPRING/SUMMER 2016

Inspired by rebellious German artist, Blinky Palermo, the clothing and nails featured high-key color in neat, precise patterns. The outcome of this inventive fashion partnership was an irreverent art show – loud yet refined.

The nails were so playful and really transitioned into the collection. It's always wonderful to play up your nails its apart of your outfit and should steal the show as well.

“Curating this collection with Libertine’s Johnson Hartig was a truly collaborative process,” said CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “His inspiration this season could not have been more in line with CND’s Spring 2016 trend story, which is all about art redesigned and repurposed. Blinky Palermo was the ultimate art vandal, and Johnson is THE expert at remastering the classics – the result on the runway was pure artistic expression.”
Products Used
Nails were hand painted to create distinctive styles on the runway.

•    “Blinky Blocks”: These dual-toned color-blocked nails featured clean lines and contrasting colors.

•    “Checkmate”: A bright checkerboard pattern set against a white base made for a restrained pop art effect.

•    “Bad Penny”: Based on a metallic rose gold shade from the upcoming Spring 2016 color collection, and adorned with copper foil and a mosaic of miniature pennies, these monochromatic nails were an invaluable statement piece.

•    “Veronica”: These expensive-looking nails were completely encrusted with mirrored glass-cut baguettes in various sizes, a reflection of the embellished garments.

Beauty Buzz + Giveaway CND VINYLUX

The CND brand has been a number one factor at my nail salon. All the women use it to shellac their nails and it always seems like the "IT" thing to do. Of course I stick to my usually manicure style but was always curious about it. Finally I was able to take baby steps and try their VINYLUX instead of the SHELLAC. It was more ideal for my needs as I take these baby steps. I love all the shades so far, its pretty enough that all woman can love. The price point is $10 but that isn't a big deal. The most important thing for me is less drying time and staying power. Find out my results in my beauty review below and enter the fab giveaway.

Backstage at the Richie Rich Fashion Show

Richie Rich went all out with his new solo line. When I went backstage, I entered another world. A world full of glamour, sugar, and spice and I loved it. There were many people involved in the fabulous Richie Rich show. So let get down to business!

Makeup
M.A.C cosmetics did a great job on the makeup. The key makeup artist, Kabuki, came up with a wonderful look. Kabuki describes the look as a transition from Norma Jean to Marilyn Monroe with a punk twist. Think uptown girl meets downtown girl and they had a fabulous makeup party.

Lets talk about Lips. Key Makeup Artist - Kabuki used the M.A.C’s Dazzle Glass lipglass on the lip. The best thing about Dazzleglass is the shine. The shimmering lip-gloss uses large particle pearls in order to give a radiate shine to any lip. Sadly, Dazzleglass was discontinued but there is an alternative. Check out Lusterglass by M.A.C! LusterGlass has the same effect as Dazzleglass. Hopefully Dazzleglass will resurface very soon!

There are many different products where used to get the Richie Rich look. Here is a list along with a few tips:

  • Studio Sculpt Foundation- This is a great foundation that is longwearing and water-resistance.
  • Dazzleglass – great lip glass

  • Powerpoint eye pencil

  • White frost eye shadow

  • Plush Lash Mascara

  • Blacktrack Fluidline

  • Grand Duos Collection (Love rock and Moon river)- This Limited Collection of Mineralized Blush Duos will launch on March 12, 2009.

(This is Love rock from the Grand Duos Collection)

(This is Moon River from The Grand Duos Collection)

  • Reflects Rust Glitter

  • #36 eye lashes- if you want a more natural looking lash than check #21 and #34

I also have the list of brushes used to achieve those great eyes at the show. Make sure you buy the brush cleaner by M.A.C!

  • 219- eye pencil brush
  • 217- eye blending brush
  • 209- eyeliner brush
  • 239- eye shader brush

For more information check out MAC Cosmetics at http://www.maccosmetics.com/

Legendary hair stylist Jeanie Syfu from TRESemme describes the hair version as Norman Jean to Marilyn with a punk rock twist. The first look was a Pompadour Mohawk with cornrows. Yes you read correctly, cornrows! It was fabulous. To achieve this look Jeanie Syfu to use TRESemme 24 hour body finishing spray for a great hold without the sticky film. You can pick up this and other TRESemme items at your local drugstore or supermarket.

Finally, CND did a great on the nails. Each model had Swarovski crystal embedded on the artificial nail. The colors used for the nails were Hot Pop Pink and Wildfire. These colors are fun and flirty. The best thing about CND is that their nail polish can be found Sally Beauty supply store. Other locations can be found at http://www.creativenaildesign.com
