Julie Kandelec for essie inspiration was a blend of modern and traditional that define the British identity. The style is pretty and can be created if you want to add some edge to your basic manicure. Perfect for your 9-5, a night out or to rock at a cocktail party!




How To Get The Look

Apply a base coat to each nail
Apply shade Master Plan to the tip of each nail creating a diagonal on one side
On the opposite side of the nail apply Smokin' Hot extend it so you have a diagonal tip
Finish with top coat Good To Go for a glossy touch.

Backstage Nails: essie at Costello Tagliapietra F/W15



Runway inspiration:
Costello Tagliapietra’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection was filled with jewel tone colors and sheen fabrics that were feminine, yet structured. Julie Kandalec for essie created a metallic blue nail look to complement the pieces by layering two coats of aruba blue, which created a flash on the runway.


essie nail products used:

ridge filling base coat
aruba blue
good to go top coat


Get the look:

1. Apply one coat of ridge filling base coat to clean, filed nails
2. Next, apply two coats of aruba blue
3. Follow with good to go top coat
Expert tip: ridge filling base coat is an ideal base coat for metallic polish shades, as it will help create an even, perfect canvas.

Backstage Beauty: essie Nails #NYFW Costello Tagliapietra

Costello Tagliapietra Fall/Winter 2014 

Runway inspiration:  Inspired by the designers’ favorite Sci-Fi and fantasy heroines, the collection tells an imaginary tale of power and strength. To play up the colorful palette, Julie Kandalec for essie opted for deep berry-colored nails with a matte finish.  
 
 
The color can be edgy with a deep signature red lip and a sultry smoky eye.
 

essie nail products used: ridge filling base coat berry naughty matte about you
Get the look: 1. Apply ridge filling base coat to clean, filed nails 
2. Once the base coat dries, apply two coats of berry naughty
3. Finish off the look with one coat of matte about you

Backstage Beauty: essie Nails #NYFW Veronica Beard

Runway inspiration: 1970’s glamour with heavy reference to David Bowie and the glam rock movement
 
Julie Kandalec for essie created a layered nail look to compliment the designer’s retro-looking fabrics and flamboyant prints.  
 
essie nail products used: ridge filling base coat mink muffs meet me at sunset good to go top coat 
Get the look: 1. Apply one coat of ridge filling base coat to clean, filed nails
2. Once the base coat dries, apply one coat of mink muffs and let partially dry
3. Next, apply one coat of meet me at sunset and let completely dry
4. Complete the look with one coat of good to go top coat.
 
If you're looking for great shades to go with gold embellishments both of these will do, rock it with a perfect bronzed glow!
