Fashion Trends: Fall "IT" Bags

Fall bags have hit retail stores and I am actually excited about the latest fashion trends for next season. Colors are still dominating, edges styles merge at their highest, small bags capture the spotlight and splurging becomes necessary for a great "IT" bag! Below are styles that I love that can help you determine the right trend for your budget and splurge needs.

This color is so powerful for fall and winter season. I love the extra details on the handle it gives more character and more style. Great for a trench coat, leather jacket or to match a sexy jumpsuit.

Events: 17th Annual Accessories Council Excellence Awards (RED CARPET ARRIVALS)

The 17th Annual ACE awards were held at the gorgeous Cipriani in NYC last night with attendees like Tommy Hilfiger, Jackie Collins, Tory Burch and Nicky Hilton to name a few. Those being honored of the night included Phillip Lim, Olivia Palermo, Iman and Hamish Bowles. Check out the video coverage from the red carpet arrivals. DESIGNER INSPIRATION: "An evolution of working with geometry and athlethism the Spring 2012 collection concentrates on the freedom and fragility of kites,” said designer Phillip Lim. “The geometry of kite tails captured between layers of chiffon echo the notions of frame work and structure.”

LOOK: “It’s inner rebel mixed with sophisticated youth and the idea of geometry combined with light and air,” said Francelle, NARS National Makeup Artist. “There is fragility with soft, glowing skin and there is strength with a powerful and metallic round crease.”

LOOK: “Phillip had an image of a black swan in a green lake as part of his inspiration board – and I wanted to mimic that idea of color surrounding something black - an unexpected element of surprise,” said Lisa Butler for NARS Cosmetics.  “The skin is kept clean, with a muted lip and then there are beautiful layers of green and blue on, and around the eyes."

NARS’ latest project: “Runway, Real Way, NARS Way,” is a series of three videos illustrating how women can achieve the NARS look, inspired by Fall/Winter 2010 New York Fashion Week.



Each video, filmed backstage at NY Fashion Week, features a wearable take on the stylized NARS makeup runway look that will be easy for women everywhere to recreate. NARS makeup artists Jenny, Uzo and Jane outline the three key steps for recreating the makeup looks from, 3.1 phillip lim, Marc Jacobs and Thakoon, respectively. Nars created the makeup look at the 3.1 phillip lim Men’s AW2010 show.


INSPIRATION: Bringing wild into the city. "I wanted the makeup to have a sense of moving forward. The phillip lim man is sure of himself and never looks back," said designer Phillip Lim

NARS Cosmetics created the makeup look at the 3.1 Phillip Lim Women’s 2010 show.

TREND: Luminous Skin and Soft Eyes
INSPIRATION: The theme behind the collection was collage, with inspiration springing from the late works of Picasso and the Cubism period. The pieces look different from every angle leaving a sense of mystery to them, while remaining timeless. The same idea is applied to the makeup. An abundance of different textures- matte, sheer, shimmer and shine- were portrayed differently as the model moved around. The clothes, like the makeup, were meant to stimulate the senses, be emotional, and also to sympathize with current times.

LOOK: The look is clean and textural, giving a sense that makeup is there but not detectable from the plain eye. “The idea is not to be harsh. The look is part sheer with shades of green, brown and lilac fading into each other” said lead artist Lisa Butler. The key points include highlights of iridescence and gold to the cheekbones, light liner (almost invisible) and peach lips. “There is some shimmer so when the face moves around, the light really captures it. But there are no lines- no eye lines, no lip lines.”

Below are some key products and steps for recreating the look:

Face:
-Mix a small amount of NARS Concealer with NARS Hydrating Moisture Cream to apply just around the nose forehead and cheeks

-Blend NARS Luxor Multiple (NEW for Holiday 2009) with a foundation brush to the cheekbone moving down diagonally toward the lips and adding a little bit onto the lips for subtle highlights



Eyes:
-Apply the golden moss side of NARS Camargue Duo Eyeshadow (NEW for Spring 2010) all over the eye filling in the crease with the sienna side

-Depending on skin tone, apply NARS Mousson Cream Eyesahdow (NEW for Holiday 2009) to adjust the color on the lid

-Using a NARS Smudge Brush apply D.Gorgeous Eyeshadow (NEW for Spring 2010) to the lower lash line adding intensity as need be (“It’s not a heavy liner, but it shows some color,” explained Lisa Butler)

-Apply one coat of NARS Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara to the top lashes


Lips:
-Add a swipe of NARS Cruising Lipstick (NEW for Spring 2010) and some NARS Luxor Multiple (NEW for Holiday 2009) to a NARS Retractable Lip Brush and dab lightly onto the lips starting in the middle and working your way out



Finish:

-Apply NARS Orgasm Illuminator (NEW for Spring 2010) to the face, concentrating on the cheekbones

-Reapply both shades from NARS Camargue Duo Eyeshadow to the brow bones
