Friends Without Borders Gala

Actresses Amy Smart and Ali Larter both made their marks looking absolutely stunning at the Friends Without Borders Gala in Los Angeles . Ali was absolutely glowing in a creamy beige dress from Calvin Klein, while Amy beamed in a black turtle neck dress from Catherine Malandrino. Below, mark Celebrity Makeup Artist Mai Quynh explains how she created both star’s photo-worthy looks, inspired by their choice of sleek evening dress.

Mai Quynh Explains How She Created Ali’s Red Carpet Look:

Eyes

“I used mark Keep It Going Longwear Eye Liner in Solid Gold (available Spring 2010) to rim the bottom of her eyes, and Jet Set to line her top eyelid. Next, I mixed mark I-mark Custom Pick Eyeshadows in Corset and Java and applied them on her lids using the mark All Over Eye Shadow Brush. I finished with mark Make It Big Mascara in Raven.”

Face

“To prep her skin, I applied mark Calm & Composed Super Soothing Moisturizer followed by mark Face Xpert Flawless Touch Makeup in Natural using a Foundation Brush. For her cheeks, I used mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Nude and applied to the apples of her cheeks. I then set her foundation and blush with mark Matte-nificent Oil-Absorbing Powder in Natural Buff using a Powder Brush which I dusted onto her T-Zone.”

Lips

“I first used mark Dew Drenched Moisturlicious Lip Color in Skinny Dip and layered mark Juice Gems in Fig.”

Mai Quynh Explains How She Created Amy’s Red Carpet Look:

Face

“I started with new mark Calm & Composed Super Soothing Moisturizer then applied mark Face Xpert in Natural using the mark Foundation Brush to even out her skintone. For her cheeks, I used mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Peachy, applying to just the apples of her cheeks using the mark Concealer Brush. I set her foundation and blush with mark Matte-nificent Oil-Absorbing Powder in Natural Buff using the mark Powder Brush.”

“I kept her lips simple using a coat of mark Lip Exotics Hook Up Lacquer in Rush.”
