Lancome does the Oscar's! Kate Winslet looked beautiful in a multi-toned one shoulder YSL dress. Celebrity makeup artist Jillian Dempsey wanted to create a classic, natural look. First, she prepped Kate’s skin with Lancôme La Base Pro primer to create a smooth canvas for a polished complexion. She lightly brushed Lancôme Brow Expert in Naturel on the brows to play up their natural shape. Jillian Dempsey for Avon Pro Eyeshadow Trio in Ice Shimmer was applied to the eyes and the lashes were coated with Jillian Dempsey for Avon Pro Mascara in Black. To create a sheer, neutral colored lip, Lancôme Color Fever Lipstick in Old Flame was applied for a soft, matte finish.
Anne Hathaway looked regal in a sparkling jewel encrusted Armani Privé gown. Her makeup look was sophisticated and elegant. Anne’s perfect brows framed her face and her long, lush lashes really made her eyes pop. She donned a deep berry-toned lip to complete her look. To get Anne’s look, try Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre in Sable to fill in and shape the brows. Lightly dust Lancôme Color Design Eye Shadow in Ciel du Soir over the entire eyelid followed by Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony applied to the upper lash line. Lightly smudge so there are no harsh lines. Apply several coats of Lancôme Ôscillation Mascara for a faux-lash effect. For just a hint of color, dust Lancôme Blush Subtil in Sheer Amourose on the apples of the cheeks. To create her berry stained pout, apply Lancôme Color Fever Lipstick in Brickhouse.

Angelina Jolie looked stunning in a black strapless Elie Saab gown paired with beautiful emerald-colored jewels which added a striking burst of color. Celebrity makeup artist Mary Burton created Angelina’s flawless look. Mary applied Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony to the upper and lower lash lines. She emphasized the shape of Angelina’s eyes by applying more liner to the outer corners of the eye. Several coats of Ôscillation Mascara were applied to the upper lashes for added volume and length. Mary put a touch of pink to the cheeks using Shu Uemura Blush in M Pink 31 and applied it to her cheekbones near the temple. To create ultra-shiny and luminous lips, Mary used Juicy Tubes in Spring Fling.

Straight From Nars Cosmetics!

Taylor Momsen wears NARS
at Marchesa and Anna Sui

Taylor Momsen was spotted at Marchesa and Anna Sui’s A/W 2009 shows wearing NARS Cosmetics. “Taylor wanted a smoky, strong eye - her signature look,” said NARS Makeup Artist Sharon Brown. “I used Black Moon Eyeliner Pencil to rim her eyes and smudge over the entire lid.” Blue shadow was layered for a pop of color. Finally, Cyprus, a bronze shadow with shimmer, was added for a flawless transition into her next outfit. “She was wearing a beautiful dress with copper accents later that night so I wanted the look to work well into the evening.” With the eyes as the focus, the cheeks were kept soft and highlighted, and the lips were delicately glossed with a new sheer pink grapefruit shade for spring.

Below is Sharon’s step-by-step to recreate Taylor’s look:

Skin:
· Mix NARS Firming Foundation in Deauville and NARSskin brightening serum to create an even base with a subtle glow [“She certainly doesn’t need the firming benefits of the foundation, but I love the texture,” explained Sharon]
· Apply NARS Duo Concealer in Custard/Ginger as needed
· Blend NARS Cream Blush in Penny Lane into cheeks
· Highlight cheekbones with a soft blend of NARS Blush Duo in Hungry Heart

Eyes:
· Line the top and bottom lashes with NARS Eyeliner Pencil in Black Moon
· Smudge Black Moon over entire lid [“For Taylor’s eye makeup, the darker the better,” said Sharon.]
· Apply slate blue side of NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Underworld for a pop of color
· Layer NARS Single Eyeshadow in Night Flight, using cobalt blue pearls to accentuate Underworld
· Top with a light dusting of NARS Single Eyeshadow in Cyprus
· Highlight brow bone with NARS Single Eyeshadow in Aybssinia

Lips
· Line lips with NARS Lip Liner Pencil in Tonga (Summer 2009)
· Apply NARS Lip Gloss in Sweet Revenge for sheer color (Spring 2009)

Backstage at the Richie Rich Fashion Show

Richie Rich went all out with his new solo line. When I went backstage, I entered another world. A world full of glamour, sugar, and spice and I loved it. There were many people involved in the fabulous Richie Rich show. So let get down to business!

Makeup
M.A.C cosmetics did a great job on the makeup. The key makeup artist, Kabuki, came up with a wonderful look. Kabuki describes the look as a transition from Norma Jean to Marilyn Monroe with a punk twist. Think uptown girl meets downtown girl and they had a fabulous makeup party.

Lets talk about Lips. Key Makeup Artist - Kabuki used the M.A.C’s Dazzle Glass lipglass on the lip. The best thing about Dazzleglass is the shine. The shimmering lip-gloss uses large particle pearls in order to give a radiate shine to any lip. Sadly, Dazzleglass was discontinued but there is an alternative. Check out Lusterglass by M.A.C! LusterGlass has the same effect as Dazzleglass. Hopefully Dazzleglass will resurface very soon!

There are many different products where used to get the Richie Rich look. Here is a list along with a few tips:

  • Studio Sculpt Foundation- This is a great foundation that is longwearing and water-resistance.
  • Dazzleglass – great lip glass

  • Powerpoint eye pencil

  • White frost eye shadow

  • Plush Lash Mascara

  • Blacktrack Fluidline

  • Grand Duos Collection (Love rock and Moon river)- This Limited Collection of Mineralized Blush Duos will launch on March 12, 2009.

(This is Love rock from the Grand Duos Collection)

(This is Moon River from The Grand Duos Collection)

  • Reflects Rust Glitter

  • #36 eye lashes- if you want a more natural looking lash than check #21 and #34

I also have the list of brushes used to achieve those great eyes at the show. Make sure you buy the brush cleaner by M.A.C!

  • 219- eye pencil brush
  • 217- eye blending brush
  • 209- eyeliner brush
  • 239- eye shader brush

For more information check out MAC Cosmetics at http://www.maccosmetics.com/

Legendary hair stylist Jeanie Syfu from TRESemme describes the hair version as Norman Jean to Marilyn with a punk rock twist. The first look was a Pompadour Mohawk with cornrows. Yes you read correctly, cornrows! It was fabulous. To achieve this look Jeanie Syfu to use TRESemme 24 hour body finishing spray for a great hold without the sticky film. You can pick up this and other TRESemme items at your local drugstore or supermarket.

Finally, CND did a great on the nails. Each model had Swarovski crystal embedded on the artificial nail. The colors used for the nails were Hot Pop Pink and Wildfire. These colors are fun and flirty. The best thing about CND is that their nail polish can be found Sally Beauty supply store. Other locations can be found at http://www.creativenaildesign.com

Nars at fashion week!

SHOW: Marchesa

LEAD ARTIST: Talia Shobrook for NARS Cosmetics

TREND: Wild brows, matte skin

Inspiration: Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig created their Fall 2009 collection with fairytales in mind. To highlight this theme, Talia Shobrook created a whimsical look from her vision of a naughty aristocrat running out of a party, “like a young girl going into the woods wearing a gorgeous ball gown, putting on makeup rather naively,” she explained.

Look: Wild brows atop flawless skin was the focus of the look. “I used a dash of Madrague brown shadow and went right into the inner corners of the brows,” said Talia. To capture the look of a tousled young girl, the brows were brushed in an unnatural direction. Beneath the brows was a colored lid of matte white, as if applied in a fleeting moment by a true makeup novice. Soft lips complemented the perfect skin.

Below is a step-by-step to recreate the look:

Face

· Lightly exfoliate and smooth skin with NARSskin Hydrating Freshening Lotion
· Moisturize with NARSskin Aqua Gel Hydrator
· Use NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (NEW for Fall 2009) in the center of the face and buff out for a neutral base
· Apply NARS Concealer generously, to cover any imperfections
· Apply NARS Loose Powder for matte finish

Eyes:
· Apply NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Kilimanjaro (icy yellow and icy blue sides) to entire lid, all the way to the brow, in a block shape, not blending
· Apply NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Madrague (cream side) on top
· Dash of the brown in NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Madrague (caramel side) into the inner top corners of the brows, pushing the hair in opposite directions
· Curl lashes with NARS Eyelash Curler
· Coat top lashes with NARS Larger than Life Volumizing Mascara in Black (NEW for Fall 2009)

Lips:
· Massage light layer of NARS Lip Lacquer in Chelsea Girls
· Apply a bit of NARS Concealer to center of lip for matte look

Nars goes backstage at the 3.1 phillip lim’s Autumn/Winter 2009 show.

Check out the details about the beauty trends straight off the runway!

SHOW: 3.1 phillip lim
LEAD ARTIST: Ayako, International Makeup Director, NARS Cosmetics

TREND: Wispy lashes, translucent matte skin

Inspiration: The Fall 2009 collection took inspiration from the mythical spirit of rock and roll, while the hair and makeup was created to emulate Tao Okamoto’s look, a Japanese model in Phillip Lim’s Fall 2009 collection. Fused together, Phillip wanted the makeup look to mirror Tao’s mod style with a touch of rock n’ roll. With this in mind, Ayako created a look centered around “poetic mod-rock.”

Look: False lashes were placed on the outer half of the bottom lash line and was the central focus of the look. For an exaggerated effect, matte charcoal shadow was used with a wet eyeliner brush to draw lashes beneath, as if to create a shadow effect. “This is the poetic part of the look,” said Ayako. As a complement to the wispy lashes, shimmering pink and gold shadows covered the lids, while the lips were muted with concealer. Skin was made flawless with the newly formulated sheer matte foundation (NEW for Fall 2009) to counteract the sleepy look of the lengthy bottom lashes. Atop the matte skin, a gentle sweep of shimmer was added to cheekbones to catch the light.

Below is a step-by-step to recreate the look:

Face
· Apply NARS Concealer generously, to cover any imperfections
· Use a small amount of NARS Sheer Matte Foundation (NEW for Fall 2009) to create even, beautiful skin
· With NARS Yachiyo Brush, dust NARS Single Eyeshadow in Bombshell from apple of cheeks up to temples for a light shimmer without pigment

Eyes:
· Line lower lashes with NARS Glittler Pencil in Danceteria
· Smudge with finger to bring out gold shine
· Use NARS Eye Contour Brush to layer rose gold with golden flecks side of NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Silk Road (NEW for Fall 2009) over Danceteria
· Apply frosted champagne side of NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Indian Summer (NEW for Fall 2009) over entire lid, blending up to brow
· Cut a set of false eyelashes in half and apply to outer half of lower lash line
· Apply NARS Larger than Life Volumizing Mascara (NEW for Fall 2009) to lower lashes
· Wet NARS Liquid Eyeliner Brush and apply matte charcoal side of NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Brumes (NEW for Fall 2009), drawing lash shadows on outer half of lower lash line

Lips:
· Apply a generous amount of NARS Concelear to entire lip

Seemingly so proud of herself that she can’t put her magazine down, Aubrey O’Day was spotted toting her March Playboy cover issue around New York City on Thursday morning.

Hmm Aubrey was never my favorite Danity Kane member and it disgusts me how she is prancing around like this playboy is some big accomplishment. Don't get me wrong I don't think playboy is trashy, in fact it's quite a classy magazine for men. But Aubrey shouldn't get her hopes to high from one photo shoot. I don't know what image shes trying to portray, but I'm with diddy all the way stop the act girlfriend and just be yourself.

I swear this woman never ages. Looking her usual gorgeous self, Halle Berry was front and center at the Essence Magazine Black Woman in Hollywood Awards Luncheon on Thursday afternoon.

Held at The Beverly Hills Hotel, Miss Berry showed off her lovely toned body in a sparkly silver and gold figure-hugging ensemble as she made her way through the press line.

Alice Temperley was another designer who opted to show her collection in a studio instead of producing a runway show.

The collection was heavily Egyptian influenced, with the gold detailing and the rich colours. I expected lots of flowing chiffon gowns, which I did see, but I was pleasantly surprised at the pieces that had a much tougher edge. Temperley presented military pieces with gold studs, and heels to match. The military theme continued with the military hats, which were decorated with a cute furry pom poms. With the tough, came the smooth, as the gowns and cocktail dresses were floaty, with floral embellished necklines and sleek silhouettes. Although plenty of accessories were presented, the halters were so decorative, that none would be needed.

The colour palette consisted of black, gold, yellow, white, burgundy and red.I really enjoy this new way of presenting collections, as you get to see the piece up close, and see the details, which I always appreciate.
