Scott Barnes, beauty expert and Hollywood make-up artist, unveiled his new book, About Face, with celebrity clients and friends including Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Judith Light, Kat Deluna, Kelly Rowland, Sylvia Tosun, Wendy Williams, Christian Siriano, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps Cheyenne Jackson, Karl Simone,

Frederique and Oribe on Wednesday, January 20th.


His new book, About Face, (which has Jennifer Lopez on the cover and she looks flawless as usual and it's all because of that Body Bling product that Barnes uses)
brought out industry friends and A-list personalities and bold-faced names who grace the book’s pages. The book was inspired by Scott’s desire to help all women achieve true inner and outer beauty.

Penelope Cruz gave her makeup artist Scott Barnes one request for the Golden Globes: “Make me look really tan!”– She knew she was in the hands of the bronzing guru!



Back from a recent vacation, Cruz already had a natural tan, but Barnes “took it up a notch” with his signature product – Body Bling. This wildly popular sunless tanning illuminator achieves that crave-worthy signature glow for red carpet or a night on the town.



With her skin taking focus, Barnes gave Cruz a classically glamorous look using burgundy eye shadow, black eye shadow liner and nude lip gloss, playing off her bronzed complexion. “I combine different nudes, pinks and peaches to get the right lip look for each individual; this was the perfect combo for Penelope!” Barnes encourages women to take risks with makeup and find their perfect look. “It’s only makeup - it will wash off! Have fun,” says Barnes.



With a black lace-trimmed Giorgio Armani Prive gown and over 60 carats of classic Chopard diamonds, Cruz screamed Old Hollywood glamour from head-to-toe!

Jennifer Lopez's New Years Eve Look

Scott Barnes made JLo look super hot as she performed Waiting For Tonight in that unforgettable outfit. Her makeup was flawless and had that edge factor.

“The key to this look is rimming the inside of the eyes with a charcoal pencil,” says Barnes, who loves Maybelline’s Expert Eyes liners. Barnes then smudged grey and black shadows to create an elongated smoky eye, giving Jennifer sultry, stand-out definition.


To take the look to the next level, Barnes used Duo Eyelash Adhesive to adhere Swarovski Crystals to JLo’s eyelids, adding that special dose of New Year’s Eve glamour.

“With such a strong eye, I kept the rest of her face clean with nude lips and light cheek color,” says Barnes, who recommends emphasizing either the eyes or the lips, but NEVER both!
