GlitterBuzzStyle Entertainment- Exclusive Interview with Jo Strettell

There are many great make up artists in the entertainment industry but no one is as sought after more than Jo Strettell. She has been working in the fashion industry for the past 25 years. Yes, you read correctly , 25 years. She began her career in London, and then moved to the big apple New York City. After finding success there Jo made her way to Paris.

She created make up looks at the Paris fashion shows for influential designers, Helmut Lang and François Girbaud. After which point, she became bi-coastal living in New York and Los Angeles, where she attained great success with premiere fashion magazines and photographers, such as Helmut Newton, Paolo Roversi, Arthur Elgort, Steven Meisel, Robert Erdmann, Dewey Nicks and Mario Testino. Trust me, these photographers are a big deal in the fashion industry.

In 1996, Jo lend her talent to seminars based on her "making women beautiful naturally" technique. These series of seminars were contracted by Televista, the largest television station in the world. This paved the way for Jo’s involvement in the film industry where she works closely with influential celebrities and musical performers. She has worked on videos for Pink, Mya, Sade, Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Avril Lavigne and Beyonce Knowles.

Jo’s celebrity clientele ranges from such actresses as Demi Moore, Diane Lane, Rachel Weisz, Terri Hatcher,Eva Longoria,Sarah Jessica Parker and Uma Thurman. Ms. Strettell worked with the Whos whos in Hollywood. Recently, Jo is responsible for the fabulous make up of Brooke Shields at The 60th Annual Emmy Awards!

She has been hired to work on beauty campaigns for Neutrogena, L’Oreal, Christian Dior, Estee Lauder, Christian Dior, Pantene, Neiman Marcus, and Oil of Olay. They depend on the flawlessly clean looks Jo is known to create. Her work has spanned the covers of Cosmopolitan, Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Nylon, and Marie Claire to name a few. In addition, Jo is continually relied upon by Allure and In Style for their legendary beauty advice columns. In fact, Jo has even been a Contributing Editor for In Style.

Ms. Strettell's fabulous on-set personality and perfected technique have become her trademarks, making her one of the most highly sought after makeup artists in the business. Ms. Strettell resume is impressive, to say the least. GlitterBuzzStyle was honored to conduct an exclusive interview. Jo is known making women beautiful naturally and we wanted to share her wisdom with you. So check out this exclusive, and I mean exclusive interview with Ms. Jo Strettell.

Glitterbuzzstyle: Hello Ms. Strettell. It is a honor to interview you today.

Jo: You are very welcome.

Glitterbuzzstyle: Ok, lets get started. What would you consider the hottest colors for the fall season?

Jo:
Metallic and shimmery fall colors - Coppers, browns, golds and maroons.

Glitterbuzzstyle:What are the best trends for the season?

Jo: 1. Cat Eyeliner on a clean eye with lots of mascara, a dark red mouth or complete contrast with a pale mouth.

2. Smoky various shades of metallic, bronzed eye, no liners, lots of mascara, pale mouth.

3. Classic Helmut Newton Face, Strong dark metallic brown eye with lots of mascara and red mouth.

Glitterbuzzstyle:What is "out" this season?

Jo: Soft pale colors, strong blush, painted mouth.

Glitterbuzzstyle:What would you say is the best way to cover a blemish?

Jo:Using a brush paint on concealer, dab to skin texture with fingertips, dust with powder, maybe paint a touch more concealer and matt with puff.

Glitterbuzzstyle:Who is your favorite celebrity to work with?

Jo: Demi Moore, Naomi Watts, Thandi Newton and Brooke Shields.

( Brooke Shields at the 60th Annual Emmy's Awards)

Glitterbuzzstyle:What beauty tips can you give women on a budget?

Jo:Go Rimmel :-) Get your looks down and just buy what you need and you know works. Lipstick vs. gloss for this season – but with a touch of gloss OVER the desired lip shade.

Glitterbuzzstyle:What aspects of your job do you love best?

Jo:I love showing women how to look beautiful with just a few simple, easy tricks. I love creating beauty looks. Discovering new products. Being part of creating beautiful photographs. Working with a whole range of interesting people. Traveling all over the world, being an artist and being able to share my beauty expertise.

Glitterbuzzstyle:Name three things a woman must have to look glamorous

Jo:Good Eyebrows, work on shaping an even perfect brow that can then be shaded and evened out with pencil and shadow. A perfectly curled lash as a base for any desired lash look, use a lash curler then add mascara to look - soft and natural, thick and weighty and then add in single lashes for fuller more glamorous look. A clean skin - even the tiniest dab of foundation, blended with moisturizer, is all that is needed to smooth away color unevenness, imperfections to clean up complexion and then lightly matted, always adds a little chicness in 5 mins.

Glitterbuzzstyle: Thank you so much for the interview Ms. Strettell. You are an inspiration!

Jo: Your very welcome.
