FAT vs. SKINNY

As women we never look in the mirror and love what we see. We may love this but we sometimes aren't feeling that part of our body. WHY? We don't look that bad, do we? (No)

Our obsessions with our appearance is a never ending story since we see images of women with the perfect airbrush body and the perfect flawless skin done by their makeup artist.
This isn't about FAT vs. SKINNY this is about women having insecurities in general. We need to appreciates our curves and our chicken legs as well. Our over sized chest or our petite A's.
We need to love ourselves and embrace our minds, body and souls because we have it going on, we are Women.

NEDA

The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is set to launch its first National Walk in Riverside Park in New York City on Sunday, Oct. 11th from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.



The theme for the inaugural walk is: “It’s time to TALK about it…it’s time to WALK about it.” Nearly 10 million females and one million males in the U.S. currently battle eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. The NEDA believes it is time to start talking about the serious issue of eating disorders, about the impact these illnesses have on families and about getting proper treatment.


“We are thrilled to launch the First National NEDA walk,” says Lynn Grefe, CEO of NEDA. “We hope this effort will continue our ongoing mission to build awareness and educate the public on ways to receive treatment. We want to provide an outlet where people can finally speak out about the eating disorders that plague millions of people across the country.”



Celebrities including Emme, host of More to Love, Melissa Archer of One Life to Live, Jenni Schaffer, author of “Life Without Ed” and singer Alanis Morissette are stepping out to support NEDA and its mission to spread awareness and shed light on the ongoing struggles women have with body image. NEDA wants the world to know that eating disorders are “not a choice,” they are serious illnesses and they can be deadly.



"I am excited to shine the light on NEDA and how to create a whole new relationship to my body and food and sense of self," says Morissette.



Archer feels strongly about the cause and states, “Eating disorders are serious diseases that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Society has set such high expectations on appearance and body image that have caused people to mistreat themselves in ways that are detrimental to their health. It is important to continue to support organizations like NEDA in hopes to counteract the pressures that cause such behaviors.”



The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), headquartered in Seattle , Wash. , a not-for-profit organization, supports individuals and families affected by eating disorders and advocates for prevention, treatment and research funding for eating disorders. Since the inception of its Helpline in 1999, NEDA has referred more than 50,000 people to treatment and tallies more than 40 million hits annually on its Web site. I love the fact that we can admire someone's style but to copy their look is another issue.

The only singer out right now that has the edgy original quality is Rihanna, she may not be the greatest singer but her look is what grabs our attention. So it doesn't surprise me that others want to mimic her but where's their ORIGINALITY.

TREND: Bold Red Matte Lips and Strong Brows





INSPIRATION: Maria Grachvogel used iconic references of Princess Margaret as photographed by Lord Snowden and Tippi Hedren in “Marnie” to convey the mood of her collection in a modern way- polished yet glamorous.



LOOK: The look is polished and strong- inspired by a glamorous and modern twist of Hitchcock’s femme fatale. “This look is not about the glowing skin underneath- it’s about the makeup- the brows need to be long and sketchy and the lips need to be rounded and bee-stung,” said lead artist James Boehmer. A flat, matte lip paired with a strong brow was balanced by a bare eye. “The lip,” James warns, “has to be really rich and vibrant- the focus is getting that rich lip otherwise the look can appear as if something is lacking.”



Below are some key products and steps for recreating the look:



Face:

· Use NARS Concealer to cover imperfections

· Layer NARS Sheer Matte Foundation over the entire face

· Set with NARS Eden Loose Powder for a flawless, matte finish



Eyes:

· Dust NARS D.Gorgeous Eyeshadow (NEW for Spring 2010) on the eyelids

· Coat lashes with NARS Eden Loose Powder, caking them to appear thicker but at the same time lightening them for a completely bare eye

Cheeks:
